Nepal’s extreme terrain gives cable cars a natural edge, turning multi-day walks into twenty-minute rides and unlocking tourism, pilgrimage, and local economies in hard-to-reach areas.
The main risks are long regulatory and land-acquisition delays that can stretch project timelines, plus high upfront capital costs. But once operational, a well-sited cable car becomes a near-monopoly cash machine with stable, long-term revenue from both locals and tourists. Political risk is real, but the sector’s proven track record and growing tourism tailwinds make it a high-upside infrastructure play with defensive cash flows once built.
