Breweries - Nepal's Consumer Growth Story
We’re backing Nepal’s fast-growing brewery industry. With rising incomes and a young population, demand for beer has been increasing steadily over the past decade.
Nepal’s beer market has grown significantly — the country now consumes over 60 million liters annually, and the market is still expanding at around 8–10% per year. The sector benefits from three strong tailwinds: a growing middle class, rapid urbanization, and shifting consumer preferences toward branded, quality beer. It’s a high-volume, recurring-revenue business with good margins once scale is achieved.
Main risks are heavy taxation, regulatory changes around alcohol, and competition from imports — but domestic breweries that have strong brands and distribution tend to do very well as Nepal’s economy grows.
